A genetic mutation could be a reason why some individuals are more prone to impulsive drinking, according to research.
A team of researchers in Finland have found the mutation to impact on a gene called HTR2B, potentially causing impulsive behaviours around drinking, sex and acts of aggression.
The study is currently too small to draw concrete conclusions, however further research down the track could potentially lead to screening for the mutation and prior identification of those at risk of impulsive acts.
